My Excursion has sat up for two months because I thought I had to return it to the bank. Well, I got a call on Saturday that she's mine to keep. When I attempted to start her up, the battery was dead so I gave her a jump. Started out fine, but after driving it, the idle wouldn't stabalize and would turn off the car when I came to any stop. I made sure there was gas in it (she did only have a gallon of gas for that entire time), but still can't idle. There is a faint smell of gas when she starts. Please help. I am a single divorcing female who doesn't want to be dupped at the auto repair shop. I have, however, done most of my own auto repair work (on earlier model cars), but have never worked on a car/truck of this size. I am looking for suggestions of what might be wrong. Any help is appreciated.
