1998 Ford Contour 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 195000 miles
very important, this problem is not constant. I may drive 30 miles or just 3 miles before it acts up; but the engine must be in the mid normal temperature befor the problem starts. When it does regards whether you are doing 40km or 100 km there is a distinct jerk(thud) coming from the transmission. There may be a number of them one afterthe other every 2 to5 seconds. If you step on the gas, these thuds become more pronounced. It does not matter if you are in D-overdrive or in 2nd. It might do this for a 1-to 2 ile stretch and go back to normal operation. Then again it might return and go on for 10 mile aND RETURN TO NORMAL FOR A DAY OR SO. IT FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS HUNTING FOR A POSITION. The thus is similar to your rpm is too high when you go from neutral to D. I have gone to ford dealers, to mechanics to transmission places and had diagnostic test done. (No indications on diagnostic) and got 10 different answers; but not one positive only we think. HELP
have the same problem?
