2003 Other Fiat Models fifth gear not engaging

I have the problem which cropped up very recently that the car Fiat Palio 1.2 petrol fifth gear is not engaging and the reverse gear which has a lock to be lifted before engaging now engages without it. Can you help me for trouble shooting the above problem please. Thanks
