Engine Performance problem
1978 Dodge Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 119400 miles
My truck is hesitating and/or stalling whenever I try to accelerate normally to somewhat hard (especially if I'm trying to go up a hill or basically putting it under some load). If I ease into the acceleration it does just fine. It seems to only want to hesitate or stall out when I press the gas pedal like I want to get on down the road… but not necessarily 'punching it.' I'm trying to figure out the source of this problem as it has me baffled at the moment. I'm pretty sure it's not ignition or fuel system related as I've recently given it a major tune-up (replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, PCV valve & grommet, fuel filter, & fuel hoses connecting the hard fuel line to the pump & the pump to the filter & the filter to the hard line to the carb). I've also replaced the fuel pump which seems to have helped slightly. Now instead of it completely stalling out, it only (mostly) hesitates upon normal to hard acceleration. Let me know if you need any further info to help with troubleshooting. Thanks in advance for any advice.
