Bus code

I was driving the car and it just stopped running and would not start again. The dash code read BUS. The security light came on. I went to U-Pull it and got the same computer out of a 2006 Dodge Stratus, numbers matched. I switched out the computers and called lock smith to flash the computer and make me a new key because lock smith said it was not reading the key. Once this was done I drove it maybe one mile and while in drive through line it shut off again and security light came back on. Had to tow home would still not turn over.

Any computer switched from one vehicle to another needs to be programmed by a mechanic that is what is wrong and why BUS came on. The one computer is not talking to the others so the car will not run.

I have a 2004 stratus 2.4 no bus came on now the engine wont turn over what do I do?

"no bus" means that one of the computers is not communicating with the others and probably has a serious problem.

My 2004 Dodge Stratus SE will not start. I have replaced the fuses, Starter and Ignition Switch, but it will not start. A message of NO BUS or No Bu5 is appearing and I no idea what to do or what that message means. Please help?

It really sounds like something got grounded/shorted out which shouldn't have such as a wiring harness or more possibly the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) which is the primary computer of the car.

A dead battery could trigger this error as well.

On thursday, I drove it to the store about 3 blks away and when I tried to leave it would not even turn over. I have power to my lights, windows ect, but not to my radio. I checked my battery connections and they were solid I checked my fuses and I found I small 20 amp fuse to the start fuel that was blown I did not have an extra so I robbed the abs 20 amp fuse I tried to start the car and it didn't do anything different I checked all the other fuses did not see any obvious blows (not sure about the bigger covered ones) I ended up getting pushed home by a friend that happened by while being pushed I noticed a trouble code come up?(I think) it was where my mileage usually is and it said either bu5 Or bus I have next to no money and am starting a new job that I have no clue how I am getting to in the morning im pretty car savvy at least I can take a motor out and apart and put it back together but im lost here

Yesterday, I changed the fuses including the one I robbed from the abs, pushed the car to auto zone and had them hook up the obd2 computer and it said that everything was good do I need a different kind of check/ scan, could it be the ignition module OR coil and if so cant I check that by jumping the starter with a screwdriver and bypassing the normal sequence also the original code said no bus or no bu5 not just bus or bu5 dont know if that makes a difference, if I have to run another test on the ecm could I just take it out and bring it to a shop instead of haveing it towed cause im runnen out of favers quick it sits towards the top by the fuses and does not look to complicated, also if I should try the bypass correct me if im wrong the starter for my particular car should be up by the back side of my oil pan covered by my muffler

The no bus indicates there is no communication between the computer (PCM) and its compunents. Check the wiring harness to the PCM to make sure it is tight and undamaged. My concern is why did the fuse blow. It may have had something to do with the PCM.

Let me know what you find.

"NO BUS" means the dash isn't getting a signal from the engine or body computers.

Your gauge cluster looses connection from the body control module. It happens sometimes, temporarily. If it is constant, and you can't stand it, you will have to replace the BCM.

I was driving down the street when the car cut off on me. I had the alternator checked and it is fine the starter is fine also. The car is trying to turn over but it isn't a friend says it seems like the power core is not getting a fire. The dashboard says "NO BUS" and I have lost my manual so I have no idea what that means.

You've really lost a lot in translation. That's one of the reasons mechanics lose our trust, when we hear things differently than what they meant, and when they have a hard time telling us what they mean.

The alternator and starter have nothing to do with this problem unless system voltage was dropping gradually while you were driving. You would have noticed that by the dropping "Volts" gauge on the dash and a warning light, "Check Gauges" and a chime. If the engine is cranking normally but just not starting, the alternator and starter are okay.

The issue is the "No Buss" message. The data buss for all of the computers to talk with each other originates in the Body Computer. That computer could have a problem, but it's just as likely a fuse has blown. Start by checking all the fuses under the hood and inside the car.

The camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor can cause engine stalling, but you shouldn't get a "No Buss" message. Your mechanic will connect a scanner to see why that message is showing up. If there really is a problem with the data buss, the scanner won't be able to communicate with any of the computers either.
