I recently bout a '97 Ram 1500 4x4. The left front axle seal began leaking after a crunching/grinding noise was heard. I removed the right front axle and found that the bushing which goes into the female end had been destroyed. Differential gears all looked good and so did shift fork and related stuff. The seal appeared untouched. I replaced the axle seal anyway along with that bushing, and three days later it began leaking again. Same problem. The U-joint is good, the axle, shift fork and coupler, slip yoke, and everything looks fine. I don't know what has happened here, but I suspect that is why this guy sold me the truck to begin with. If anyone has info, please help!
