Engine Cooling problem
1998 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 68000 miles

I recently flushed the cooling system and replaced the thermostat. Ever since then, when I drive away after turning off the truck, my heater core sounds like I have a waterfall in it. It gurgles untill I drive a mile or so. I tried to purge the system of trapped air, but this hasn't solved the problem. I read that this engine has two types of thermostats, recirculating and not. Is this true, and what can I do to get rid of the waterfall effect and noise?
