My car stalls while driving. Starts right up again. I was told by a mechanic back East that it can be a faulty ground or a crank sensor as the likely problem. Where is the crank sensor and how easy is it to change? I am retired and would like to change the sensor myself if not too difficult. How many grounds are there and are they all accesible from the top of the car?

What is best way or ways to remove this, and is it possible just to push it in instead of trying to get it out? I cannot get it to budge it is really in there. What would happen to my car if I pushed it in? Need car tomorrow no help.

Good afternoon.

No, you cannot push it in as the crankshaft is right on the other side.

You will need to drill a hole in the center of the sensor and screw in a sheet metal screw. Tighten it up as tight as you can and get the sensor to turn. The o-ring is holding it in. Once you turn it and break it loose, you can work it out by using a pair of pliers on the head of the screw.

Get a number 10 self-tapping screw about 1 1/2 inches long. You can get it a Home Depot, Lowe's or Fastenall.

Okay, what is the best way to access doing this because working over top it puts things at an angle. I jacked my car up.

Then just start the screw in. The point on the screw should be sharp enough to start without a drill.

On the 2.7L V6-cylinder engine, the crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the transaxle housing, above the vehicle speed sensor.

You can try but I doubt it. You may have better luck going through the wheel well after removing the tire.

Hello,

Crankshaft senor is located on passengers side of transmission hosing above the differential housing. Here is a guide that will show you what you are in for when doing the job and a diagram below to show you the location on your car.

Just got in, bad news I got the screw in and still will not move or pull out. I have tried I am loosing hope, screw head is half an inch out, all help needed and appreciated!
