Hhere the yoke goes into the tranny extension there is a rubber boot that has a pin hole in it. Black grease gets on my finger when I rub it. The truck has a vibration issue that I beleive may be do to this as it is my last chance of doing it myself. I have changed both wheel bearings and check brakes-taken of and put back on, and rotated and balanced the tires.
What is the boot called? There is no fluid level loss or evidence of leaks so Im sure the oil seal is ok. Help?

That is nothing more than a dust cover. The seal is on the inside. If you are not leaking ATF, the seal is good. As far as the "grease, " I'm not sure why it is there. Nothing there is greasable other than a thin coat of grease on the splines.

Let me know.

Also, are you sure the u-joints are good? They can cause a vibration.
