My 97' Dodge Caravan has 161,000 miles and i've had no problems with the transmission since i've owned it. Recently it has been starting in second or third gear. I checked the transmission fluid and it is browing a little bit. When it is really cold outside my van will start in first gear and won't shift out untill the engine completley warms up. Would a tranny flush help solve this problem?

Dont bother to flush it. You need to find out what trans codes are present. Not engine codes but trans codes. If there is a speed sensor code they can be replaced for a low cost, however if there is a gear ratio error code along with fault after shift codes there is an internal problem and trans will need to be rebuilt or replaced.
Good luck
