I have a very strange problem that started recently with my 1999 Deville. I use my cruise control all the time. About a month ago, I was using my cruise, going about 55 mph and all of a sudden you could feel the cruise release and my car begin to decelerate. When this happened, the digital MPH readout on the dash started flickering very fast showing all kinds of speeds.55, 25, 33, 54, 35, 26, 45, etc. As an example. When I tried to accelerate using the gas pedal and re-apply the cruise, I could hear the engine rev loudly and it did not accelerate as if it was in neutral. Eventually, after the car slowed quite a bit, it would then kick back in and allow me to accelerate once again. This has happened several times now. It is strange because you are actually helpless until the car allows you to accelerate once again. This is only happening when I am using the cruise control. If I just drive using the gas pedal all the time, it seems fine. Have you ever heard of this happening? Do you think my transmision is slipping or is it a faulty cruise control? I'm anxious to hear if this is a normal problem because I never heard of this happening!
have the same problem?
