Camshaft position sensor?

When completely stopped in drive, there is a vibration that shakes the entire car. When in park there is still a vibration, just less severe. While driving, the ride is smooth. The check engine light is on and it read that the crank and cam sensors were bad. I changed the crank sensor and the problem remains, the code reader still reads a bad cam sensor also. How do I replace it?

Your vibration is most likely caused by a bad engine mount or transmission mount. When bad it lets the engine rest on the frame with no rubber in between thus causing a vibration. Here is the camshaft position sensor location so you can give it a try. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

I am selling my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT. A buyer recently test drove the car and decided to purchase it; however, the check engine light was on and the buyer asked that I take care of it.

I already new the light was on because of a misfire on cylinder three. I bought new plugs and wires and changed it myself. However, now the car misses during hard acceleration (at least once anywhere in between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm).

I checked it out with a computer and the result said I had a crank shaft sensor issue and a CAM sensor issue. I ended up buying the crank shaft sensor from the dealer and installing it, however, I was told that there is no CAM sensor for my car. How can that be when the computer read-out said "CAM sensor?"

Even with the new wires, plugs and crank sensor I still get the misses during acceleration and can't sell the car until I get this fixed. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Car will start and run for about 4 seconds and shut off. I have checked with a test light the signal wire and power wires from both cam and crank pos sensors. What could be wrong?

Try resetting security system if no manual look online for your car and reset

I was wondering if I had a camshaft sensor position because I went to AutoZone they told me they did not. That this type of car did not have it it has a crankshaft. I need to step by step how to take off the crankshaft sensor position and put it back together and if I do have a camshaft sensor if you can please tell me exactly where it is at? I could not find it that is why I went to AutoZone they told me it did not come with this type of car I guess. Thank you

That engine has both a cam and crank sensor. But the cam sensor is not an individual part, it is built into the distributor. The crankshaft sensor is under the timing belt cover as shown in the picture. However, to diagnose either one for a problem you need some tools that most people do not have. Namely an oscilloscope and the special test harnesses that you use to get the signals from the sensors so you can connect the scope up for testing. Those let you watch both sensors to see if there is an issue with their timing or output relative to each other.

What are the codes or issues you are having that makes you feel one or both are faulty?
Not starting? Running poorly?

First of all it has poor battery power and it stops as I'm driving now doesn't even start so the last time it worked was when I was on the freeway and it just gave out on me for the Mitsubishi Eclipse 2000 there's not really much in the internet that says really much about it GT thank you reply fast

A bad battery could also cause it to shut down. I would start with getting that replaced first, then test the charging system.
Once you have a known good battery then you can start testing. If it is turning over you can then test for spark and fuel.
