I took my car to have codes checked. I included the list of codes. AutoZone printout suggested replacing CKP. I am not sure where it is located.

Mitchel database says, it is behind the crankshaft pulley. Just to add, if it needs a crankshaft variation relearn procedure. I can give you our text info, but, it says to use scanner, probably a manufacturer specific scanner? I don't have one.

There you go you shouldn't have to relearn the crank shaft sensor since your using the old crank shaft pulley.I have worked for gm dealers for over 16yrs.It took a little while to get you info copy and store paste etc.

Louie, this is good information, however I have a subscription with chilton and they have provided me with these photos already. But my original question was related to how to remove the body mounts, etc to get to the crankshaft (if necessary, though it seems like it is to me) I have removed the wheel, fender shield, and can only see half the crankshaft, I also took off one of the top mounts (right side) with hope that the engine may lower slightly so I can access the crankshaft, I also unloosed the other top mount but did not remove. So my question is how to get to the crankshaft versus removal because I have this information, I've done all I know to get to the crankshaft and fear doing more without technical advice because I don't want to ruin the engine by it dropping because I unloosed a bolt or something that I wasn't suppose to.

I just thought since you said you were under your car that you were in a hurry to get the information. That's why i said as you can see by what i posted it take's a little while to get you the info.Sorry if i misunderstood that you were in a hurry and trying to rush me.The only way i see that you could drop the engine down lower is by removing that lower engine mount that i just posted.Which would be a lot of work and they charge 2.7 hrs to replace it.They only charge 1.4hrs to replace the crank pulley so that's not the way to do it.I also posted how to remove the crank shaft pulley from mitchell on demand and it list's the same way i posted the first time but with a lot less detail. You said your chilton online said the same way to do it.The first one i posted wasn't chilton so that's three different company's saying to do it that way.It would be hard to think that all three got it wrong. Can you send you send me a pic of what your looking at?

I don't feel comfortable removing the lower engine mount since I don't have the equipment to support the engine.
Therefore,
Since I can only see half the crankshaft since the fender is blocking the other half, how do you suggest I get to the crankshaft?

I said taking the mount out wasn't the way to go so no worries there.I also asked if I could see a picture of what you are looking at that would really help.

Thank you that's about how I figured it would look. Your not going to get that pulley fully exposed most of the crank pulley's I have taken off have about that much exposed. Very few have them exposed all the way. The diagrams always show a full view of the pulley doesn't mean there going to give you full access to the pulley. What I would do is take the crank bolt out spray some liquid wrench in the center and let it soak for a while since there is a lot rust then try taking the pulley off.

Can you loosen the bolt without the tool to hold the flywheel. If so how?

The only way your going to get that bolt out without that holding tool is with a strong 1/2" drive impact gun. Most of those crank shaft bolt's can be really tight. If you try to break that bolt loose by hand without holding the engine from spinning it's not going to happen. Your just going to be turning the engine over.

Last question I hope, the flywheel is hard for me to access because it's enclosed, the enclosure seems very hard to access, there's not much room to get to the bolts to detach the enclosure to get to the wheel, is this common and if so do you think the mechanic would have to raise or lower the engine.

Also how much do think it would be for a boot and broken cv joint?

Yes it's common sometimes to have to remove engine brace's sometimes drop exhaust's to remove the flywheel cover's.I don't think he would have to raise or lower the engine. Now you have a problem with a cv boot or joint?I would need to know drivers side or passenger side and inner or outer joint. That's going to change the price of the part's and the labor.
