2000 Citroen Xsara 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 65000 miles
I just bought a second hand Citroen Xsara 1.6i Automatic. I have observed lately that the idling even when the transmission is engaged is erratically going up and down at a very fast pace just like when the aircon compressor comes on. Meaning that the idling rpm changes from 900 to 100RPM rather sequentially at all times. What seems to be the problem with the engine idling system? Isn't it that the idle speed is supposed to be constant at around 850RPM especially if it is at neutral? What mode of inspection and diagnosis should I proceed with?
