Transmission problem
2001 Chrysler Town and Country V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

While making a U turn my car siezed. I was able to shift the gear changed up and down, but the car wouldn't respond, the engine was idle, however the car would neither move to reverse, drive and when I placed it on neutral it didn't budge when pushed. Did the transmission lock? Did I change the gears to quickly?

It sounds like the part called the 'parking pawl' has broken. This is the part that stops the vehicle from moving when it is parked. Unfortunately, unless you are an experienced mechanic or transmission repair specialist it will have to be taken in and inspected. Expect the shop to authorize a 'tear down' where you will be charged to find the source of the problem even if you don't want to repair it. An overhaul will be recommended or just replacement with a prior rebuilt unit.

Good luck.
