Air conditioner not working?

2002 Chrysler Voyager - heat works while driving and blows hot but when sitting idle at a light, the heat starts to blow cool. Once I start up again or put car in neutral and give it a little gas, heat starts coming back. Any ideas? It has nothing to do with if I have the outside air vent open or closed - same results. Same thing is happening with my 2000 Sebring. Both vehicles have over 100,000 miles on them. Thanks

Make sure the coolant level is full. Chances are it is low. This video can help as well

Air Conditioning problem
2002 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl 97000 miles

The air cond in my 2002 Chrysler Town and Country blows cool air in both the front and rear. It does not blow cold. It also seems like the fans should blow harder than they do. We bought the van a couple months ago and it came with no service records. I checked the freon psi and it seems to be in the correct range. I just hope it's not an expensive fix. Could it be related to an old cabin filter? Thank you so much for your help.

I found the cabin filter and it looked original because it basically tried to jump out because it was so nasty. Taking that out made the air blow harder. Still looking to take it by the local dealership on Monday to find out why the driver's side vents don't blow as cool as the rest. A/C temp overall needs big improvement.

I'm having same problems.
Only driver side is blowing with warm air, rest of vent is just fine. It only happens when car is under hot sun in summer.
So, I tried to park the car under the shade when I park.
But when I drive under hot sun, there is nothing I could do, but sometime cold air come and go. It's very strange things. My dealer couldn't find problem at all when I brought the car for check up few times. Hope you will have luck to find a problem and be able to fix it.

The dealership ran tests in the AC system and said that the condenser has a leak and needs to be replaced. Great, except for the price tag of $718. It's at a smaller local shop today that will do it for $300 (with a used condenser from a junk yard). Fine by me as long as it cools. August can be warm in NC.

In my 2002 Chrysler T&C the driver side a/c does not blow as cold as the passenger side. The passenger side is very cold and driver side is tepid. Is there some type of actuator or sensor that directs air temperature from the system and is it a quick fix or can I do it myself?

The only thing that adjust the temp is called the blend air door. It is located near the heater core and opens and closes based on what you need, heat or AC. You could check that to see if it is sticking.

Hi:
It sounds like the switch has shorted. You could check continunity through the switch with the switch on and off to make sure it is the problem.

Ummm. Why is my ac not working properly? It has a little cold air. Hardly though.

Hello,

Well ummm. Could be low on freon.

With engine off look under hood for the A/C Compressor. Notice the front of it. Now start the vehicle with A/C off and look at compressor, noticing the front of it. Now turn on A/C and look at compressor. Does the front of it kick in and out frequently. If so then most likely you are low on freon.

I have an 01 t&c thet hade a bad a/c compreser (locked up) I replaced the compreser and the condencer and flushed the lines, evaced the system and rechard with new R134 now it dose not get cold in front and only cool in the rear, the cooling fan will not turn on some times and it will pop the high presser valve when the fan is working the high presser is 250-300psi with the low at 20-35psi. Any help is greatly needed?

You have a blockage in the system, probably in the reciever drier. The desicant bag may have collapsed, and or the old compressor, if it had teflon coated parts may have caused "Black Death" in this case a pancake filter must be installed the systems recharged and run for at least 1 hour, then evacuate, remove filter, replace reciever and orifice tube and recharge.

Checked for Freon was really low pulled vacuum and checked for leaks and refilled per manual! After doing this it was driven five miles and it stopped blowing cool air check pressure it was great, but the compressor was not engaging. So I checked the relay when I depressed it down it would work and blow cool for a minute this van is a LXI Need help!

It sounds like you have a fuse (there are several) that is out or a pressure switch is not working. Here is a couple guides and diagrams (below) to help us do some simple tests to figure out what the problem is.

when I have either my defrost or a/c on I get water on the floor of the drivers side. Appears to be coming out behind the excelerator.

There is a drain to collect water from the ac. NOTE: The AC works on defrost. The drain is most likely plugged and not allowing the water to exit the vehicle. If you open the hood of the van, check the passanger side of the firewall. I believe you will see a black rubber hose with a 90 degree bend down. Move it around to see if anything is plugging it.

Electrical problem

98 CHRYSLER T and C a/c lights flashing on cluster. I tried the calibration test but end result is a/c and recirc lights flashing twice then a third time with rear wiper light flashing all 3 together and it continues w/o end. Whats the next step?
