2002 Chrysler Sebring Overheating

Engine Cooling problem
2002 Chrysler Sebring 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 42000 miles

We just had the radiator flushed about 2 months ago. The car overheated a few days ago. When we looked at the radiator area we noticed the shop that flushed the radiator, they did not replace the coolant, the replaced the coolant with water.
Now the mechanic indicates the area where the thermostat is located my have a small crack that is releasing water and this could possibly be causing the issue. He indicated that the thermostat bracket has been a problem with this model vehicle.
Can you let me know if you have heard of this before and what an estimated cost to repair might be?

Do you
have the same problem?
