The oil pressure sensor light flickers when I slow down or come to a stop. I've been told1) the sensor needs to be replaced and/or 2) I need to use a heavier wt oil because my oil pumps is getting weaker. I have about 400 miles left on my current oil change.

This is worrying me!

Thanks for this site :-)

If there is no knocking or ticking when the light flickers, chances are the oil sending unit is bad. It isn't an expensive part, under 20 bucks. Replace that and see if it fixes the problem. If you DO hear a knocking or ticking from the engine, then you need to check pressure with a mechanical pump and maybe even replace the oil pump.

Hello,

The oil pressure sensor is on the right side of the block down low. Here is a diagram to help. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Locate your oil filter. Look right above it.

My convertible has started illuminating the Oil light after the engine reaches operating temperature and is at idle. Goes out when the RPM is increased. I would like to check the oil pressure sending unit and associated wiring, Where is the sending unit located?

From under the car, locate your oil filter. The switch is just above the filter.

Your vehicle has a oil pressure switch, not a sending unit. The oil pressure switch is located right side of engine block, below exhaust manifold on the 2.4L engines. It is located on the side of engine block, near oil filter on the 2.5L engines.
