1988 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER (3.0L AUTOMATIC) FRONT END GROWL

I have just been told by Chrysler that the growl coming from the front end of the car, while driving, is caused by the front wheel bearings needing grease. I just had both transaxles replaced less than 10K miles ago.

Is it likely that the wheel bearings would require repair/greasing within this short of time period?

What would cause the wheel bearings to require work in such a short period?

Chrysler estimates the work to be about $400 to repair.

The car has 125,000 miles on it.

Do you
have the same problem?
