Replaced head gasket on SUV.
Putting it all back together with only one problem, my son helped me. He pulled plug wires off distributor cap without marking them. They still attached onto spark plugs. Could you show me a diagram of how they go back. Please and thank you

Thank you for a quick reply
My distributor cap is more squared off than round and coil wire is not in middle. Enclosing a picture of cap.
Also, which side would the coil wire hookup go on passenger or drivers?

The passenger side cylinder bank, from front to back, the cylinders are numbered 2468.

The distributor cap, passenger side, front to back, 8246.

The firing order is 18436572, the rotor turns clockwise. This is for a 5.7L engine.

Maybe somebody else can post a picture, I can't.

I've seen two different 'standard' diagrams for the spark plug-to- distributor wiring layout at the distributor cap.

One seems logical, and follows firing order, the other doesn't seem to match up, unless the rotor skips when it conducts. I'm confused, and need to know which diagram is right.

I should have stated more clearly. Since the firing order is clokwise then the number 1 Plug will be the first one to the left of the window on the distributor. The firing order is stil the same 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

You are correct, 1-3-5-7 are the left bank when in the drivers seat and #1 is the front cylinder. At the distributo, r find the window, and as you are looking at the window, #1 SHOULD be the one to the left of the window then 8-4-3-6-5-7-2 going CLOCKWISE from #1.
