Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Chevy Suburban V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 155000 miles

1998 suburban with 454. I am having intermittent problems with the engine not turning over. Makes a clicking noise. When you continue to attempt to start it, it will eventually turn over and start.

My first thought is that it is the starter since there is the clicking noise wihtout the engine starting. This has been happening for a few months now. After the engine has been running and you turn it off, it will strart right back up. It usually has this issue when it is cold or has been sitting overnight or for a few hours.

Hi tmoore5385,

Thank you for the donation.

Symptom seems to indicate a battery or its connection fault. Check the battery terminals and ground circuit connection. Have the battery tested.
