My chevy truck started overheating and the heater quit working. The mechanic said no water was being circulated. Is there a switch or something or is it a water pump.

Is the thermostat ok?

Is there possibly a coolant leak? You need to check the coolant in the radiator, not the bottle.

There's no switch, so could be the water pump if the above issues are ok. Check the hole in the bottom of the water pump to see if it is leaking.
