I have a 1998 chevy K1500 with 204,489 miles. The transmission has been replaced and supposnly has 70,000 miles on it. I replaced the engine and it supposnly has 73,000 miles. My problem is when I first start it will miss and loose about 250 RPM and misses really bad on slow acceleration but sometimes will stop after 20 or 30 minutes. It also misses to begin with right before it shifts. If you accelerate really hard (Fast) it will not miss. When I changed the egr and took the battery off for a few minutes it stoped but started 5 minutes later. I also changed the MAP sensor and it stoped for a little bit but started agein.

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1. Defective spark plug
2. Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4. False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
11. Idle air control valve.
