1997 Chevy Silverado V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 204K miles
I am old school; carbs, etx. My truck is fuel injection. I got a rebuilt engine for it to "play with". It is a 383 long block with Vortec heads. Stock size valves;.480 lift cam; very mild porting on heads. It uses the stock intake and injection unit. Stock exhaust manifold. Upon installation the computer would throw codes that would not let the engine to continue running past warm up temperature. We pulled the engine, checked the injectors nozzels and replaced some. Put back together; same type problem. Finally got it down to one code; seemed to be caused by the distributor which was brand new. Put in a rebuilt one; same problem; put in an old one; same problem. Took the old one and put it on another engine and everything was fine. Put back on mine and computer threw a code. Have had the computer completely gone through and re-programmed; same problem. Got a new ECU unit and reprogrammed it on a new $8000 dianostice machine. Cannot figure out what is wrong. I'm lost with these new computers. I was not doing the work but had experienced mechanics doing it. Can you help?
have the same problem?
