Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Chevy Silverado V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 169000 miles

my truck is having trouble idling, it sputters and stalls when first started. But once it runs for a few minutes it idles fine. A mechanic says it's my # 2 cylinder. I was also told it was my cats but I have replaced those already.

so my question is how labor intensive is this going to be and does it sound like a correct diagnosis.

thanks alot, jeff

Have the coolant temperature sensor/idle air control valve and throttle position sensor checked-

If it was a dead cylinder it will not idle fine you're running with 7cylinders and it will misfire and be noticeable.
