Stalling-Chevy, S-10 ZR2, 2002, 102k mi, 4.3 V6

The main problem is my truck keeps stalling, but it's intermittent. Problem began a week ago, and I haven't driven it much since.

It began as I was driving, and the electrical/guages seemed screwy - as I was going 30 mph, all of the guages (speed, rpm, elect, oil pressure, etc) would suddenly drop to zero quickly and steadily come back to normal, and it repeated several times. The engine still ran smoothly at speed, but I noticed that the radio had electrical feedback from the motor, and the digital odometer and radio seemed to go dim and come back, kind of flickering. Then the guage problem went away (and I don't think I've seen it since), but the engine would stall when I stopped at a stop sign. When I started it again, and put it in drive (or reverse), it would stall unless I revved the engine (feathering the rpm slightly higher) and put it in drive.

Since last week, I started it several times and sometimes it would start and run perfectly, other times the same stuff would happen. Even after sitting for several days, the engine seemed to turn over fine - although one time it started fine, then was completely dead a few minutes later, then started and ran rough / stalled again.

I had the plugs, wires, cap and rotor replaced a few weeks ago and it ran fine for at least 2 weeks before this, but I'll check if something has come loose. Also, I have a Hypertech tuner and no trouble codes have come up, and I just removed the only mod I had programmed, the shift firmness.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give me. I'll try to try them myself if possible, otherwise let a shop that I trust take care of me if it's beyond my abilities. I just don't want them to tell me they can't find any problems when they can't duplicate it!

I just had the exact same problem with my truck. It is also a 2002 S-10. I ended up checking the battery first and found that every lead coming from the positive terminal was severely corroded. I followed them down to the junction with the 175amp fuse that leads to the accessories and found that corroded as well. I ended up going to Wal-Mart and getting a new side-post terminal cable and a second cable to splice for the accessories as the cables will be dealer parts and the dealer was closed. So far I have not had the problem after these repairs.
