1998 S-10 w/ 240,000 miles, Standard Shift

When my truck gets hot and I turn it off it will not even turn over for at least 30 or 40 minutes and when it is running it sputters and sometimes backfires.

OK the backfires with 240,000 could be a worn cam lobe or 2, hard starting check the starter heat shield. By now it's rotted off. Starter is most likly overheated.
