Engine Performance problem
1997 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
My husband has a 1997 Chevy S10, 5 speed. We have put new plugs/wires in the truck. A short time after that it started backfiring. Took it to a mechanic, he told us it needed a coil package, so now that has been replace. It quit backfiring for awhile, but it has started all over, but a little worse this time. Now the truck backfires going into to 2nd and when we get upto about 30 mph it cuts off after it backfires. But once in neutral it crank back up. Autozone said we needed a couple of sensors, cam position & crank sensor. So now it has new coil package, cam & crank sensors. Those things didnt fix it, the truck is still doing the same thing. What else could it be?PLEASE HELP US RESOLVE THIS MYSTERY! Oh yeah someone told us it could be the timing chain. Just wish we could narrow it down instead of purchasing all of these things>>>>Thank you ajarrells79
