1963 Chevy Nova 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently purchased a 62 chevy nove. It starts without the key so I got a new key lock but I cant figure out how to disconnect the old one given the small amount of space under the dash. HOw do I disconnect the old one so I can actually make it so I need a key to start my car.

When you say disconnect, do you mean remove hte old lock cylinder? Or unplug the electrical? Or remove the switch from the dash? To remove the assembly from the dash you will need a paper clip. There is a hole in the front of the key tumbler, I believe you turn key to " on" and insert clip, you will feel it push a button down, now the tumbler can be pulled out of the housing, the bezel unscrewed and the unit replaced. You may need to go to " acc" position, it has been a while
