2000 Chevy Monte Carlo Temp Gauge

When I drive short distances temp guage on dash works fine. When I drive longer distances (45 min-longer ) temp guage stops working... Have had the plug replaced...the sensor replaced..and still same thing.... without a temp reading the fan is running all the time by default....

If the fan is coming on, then the problem has to be between the temp sending unit and the relay. Check there for a loose or damaged wire. Also, check the relay to make sure it is working properly. Let me know what you find.

WHen you open the power block, the lid should identify what each relay is for.

I didn't see any relays that said tempature gage or anything that might br connected to the temp guage???

The only thing I see is (A.I.R.) relay (Air Induction Reaction Relay)...Is this it?

No. Is has it's own. The AIR system measures the amount of vacuum / air entering the intake.

I was able to find a wiring harness that shows where the relays are. See if this helps:
