Electrical problem
2005 Chevy Malibu 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 44,000 miles

I had just filled the tank with fuel and as I was driving the fuel gauge dropped to empty and then quickly returned to the full position and has stayed there ever since. Could it be the sensor, float, both?

Its caused by your fuel level sensor. It is located in the fuel tank.
