I have a 2000 Chevy Impala, 3.8 liter LS. It has 175,000 miles on it.
I am having power steering problems. When I turn to the right it is fine. It is hard turning to the left. When turning to the left, if I ease up in the turn, the wheel will then turn with less force and sometimes it will turn to the left without much problem. I did replace the rack approximately two years ago. (Note: When I did replace the rack two years ago, it was the same problem, I could turn to the right fine, but was having difficulty turning left.) Could it be a bad rack? Could it be the power steering pump? What about a belt? Recently, when I turn on the car I hear a fairly loud squealing noise for 5 or 10 seconds then it stops. The sound reappeared once when I approached a stop sign. Any suggestions are welcome.
have the same problem?
