CHEVY REMOVING POWER STEERING PUMP

Steering problem
2006 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 69,000 miles

I have remove belt and the 3 bolts and lines. Pump is lose but will not come out. Do I have to take more off the motor?

It looks like in either V6 configuration, it calls for pump pulley removal as one of the initial steps in removal. It doesn't say why, and the illustration is not detailed enough to show any reason. Removal of the pulley requires a special tool, a power steering pump pulley removal tool. It may be available at a rental store, or a parts store that rents tools. I would imagine it is a fairly common tool requested.

There is no room to put a puller

What type of puller are you using? A power steering pulley puller is not very large.

I have two illustrations, they are for the two V6 options. It looks like the belt routing is the same in both, I believe the illustration only differs with the engine picture.
The first is the 3.5, and the 3.9 is the following.
