My brakes grab and hold. And then sink and give. And grab again. This doesn't happen every time I brake, but it's becoming more frequent. It's frightening, because the car moves forward after I've stopped. I passed inspection last week, so nothing was seen there.
Thanks for any help.

A brake pedal that tends to "sink" away from your foot after you have stopped and are sitting with your foot still on the pedal is probably a Brake Master Cylinder leaking the fluid past the internal o'rings. It won't show as a leaking fluid so it could possibly pass an inspection.

Replacing the Master Cylinder should cure the problem.

Good luck.
