My Impala 2000 with a 3.8L as a very annoying power variation when accelerating. On the 3rd and 4th speed when accelerating slowly, the power of acceleration variate as if I would be playing with the gaz peadle. The RPM will go in between 1800 RPM to 2200 RPM every 2seconds till I am over 2200 RPM where It reacts normally again. Otherwise at any other speed, everything is perfect.
Thank for your greatly appreciated help.

That sounds like the range where the trans is locking and unlocking the torque converter, or shifting in and out of OD. The trans will do this depending on engine load and throttle position and vehicle speed. Is or has the check engine light been on? Have you had the engine tuned up? Sometimes the engine will misfire slightly and it is mistaken for a trans problem.
