Ok the past two days, I have noticed that when I have my 2002 cavalier in idle the temps near the red warning and my check gauges light comes on. There appears to be no leaks anywhere. The car has been idling very high and sometimes revs when in park.

Once I start drivng the temps come down and all is well and the car moves smoothly.

What could this be and is it gonna be something that makes me want to trade in this car?

btw there is only 59,000 miles on this car

Have u currently got the check engine light on. I would get the trouble code scanned from auto zone, Also then it will give u an idea whats needing to e replaced. Could have a problem with thermostat sticking, Also could need a coolant added, Also could have a problem with youre cooling Fan, Either the fan relay, Fuse, Or possibly the fan it self.

Good Luck.
