I have a 96 S10 Blazer 4.3L VORTEC w/ 130k miles, manual transmission, and prior to this week, it was running fine with the exception of a rough idle. I had been driving it all day and when I went to start it up later that night, it refused to turn over. It made a noise similar to a hand drill spinning at a high speed. The battery powers everything fine(dash lights, dome light, vents, and radio). My question to you is should I replace the starter or look into the fuel pump?

Thats the starter you hear, the solenoid isn't throwing the armature against the flywheel, just replace the starter
