AC not cold

Thanks for this post I had this problem and had to get an AC recharge kit cost me $34.00 all fixed.

I have this problem that is what ever mode your on, heat or ac the air blows weak. When u change direction of air flow it works perfectly in all directions but blows softly. I checked all the air vent doors and the vaccum actuators and the vaccumclimate control switch, all seem to be working fine. Is there a chance or have u ever heard of a clogged ac evaporator being the problem, because I believe that the stream of air leaves the blower motor ( which I checked as well, air is being drawn unobstructed from outside & the motor is in great shape) and then travels thru the ac evaporator then goes inside the duct work in the van.

Air conditioner does not blow from 4 vents on dash. Rear air works one works and top of dash vent works. How do I remedy this problem

The blower will not turn on. Turn it on low nothing turn it on high nothing. It feels like the heater is making heat but, its just not being circulated in the car.

Try checking the power to the blower motor under the hood- Its on the far left with a plug sticking out of it. If it's getting power, you need to replace the blower motor- same thing happened in mine.

The fan is blowing but there is no air coming out of the ac duct it is all coming out @ the feet. Is there a fuse or a hose off somewhere that can be causing the problem. Thanks.

I just had the same issue on a 2000. Found the small plastic vacuum hose (1/8" od) from the right side (from the front) intake manifold to the left side AC area broken. Replaced the hose and contol now works the vents.

I have a 2000 chevy astro and the ac isnt blowing. I figured out the compressor clutch wasnt kicking in, I checked the two pin plug going to the compressor clutch and there wasnt 12 volts. I checked the fuse and the ac relay and they were fine, I checked the low pressure switch and it read continuity, I dont know where to go from here ive also checked the contacts on the selector switch because the fan only blows semi cold air int he lo and medium positions but nothing in high?

Front AC works sporadically. Front AC MAX Fan and MAX cold trickles cold air sometimes and sometimes doesn't come on at all. Rear AC MAX Fan works constantly with a steady stream of lukewarm air. Followed directions in Haynes but still no positive results. Freon charge was 35lbs. Recharging freon with 134A to 37lbs did nothing. Both the front and rear accumulater are cold to the touch but the evaporator inlet pipe is warm/hot.

A/C has never been serviced, however A/C (and heater) have been sporadic for a few months. My guage only fits low pressure port, high pressure port is a different size. Additional info, when vehicle reaches operating temp (210 F) and I engage the A/C, both front and rear accumulators ice up but the evaporator inlet pipe remains warm. When compressor kicks on, ice on accumulators melts and pressure rises to about 40lbs. When compressor turns off, pressure drops to about 25lbs and accumulators freeze up. Thanks for any and all help you can give me. I am about to drive across country after retiring from the military and it's going to be hot in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, etc.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem. My A/C only blows out of the defrost vents (by the driver and passenger door, windshield and under the dash). It was one of those instances where I got in the vehicle one day and started it like normal and then the A/C wouldn't come out the front vents. Before that it worked perfectly and showed no sign of any problems. Both the fan speed switch and the temperature control switch work fine.

When I turn the A/C selector knob, for instance, from off to Max A/C to A/C, etc. All the way to defrost, I can feel and hear the A/C going through its motions, so I don't think there's a problem there. It still blows cold enough. It simply won't divert from the defrost setting to blow out the front vents. I've checked all the fuses and the relays seem fine, but I haven't put a meter to the relays yet as I don't think that's the problem. That would be nice considering I don't want to do surgery on the dash to get at the internals. Is it possible that there are leaves or some such other blockage holding up the diverter? Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Florida is unforgiving without A/C!
