Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Chevy Astro Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles

After a night of sitting, the only way I can start the van is if I spray gas into the carberator. I have to run and slide the air system back on or it will cut off. It will start back up after that and it runs fine. It gets harder to start after an hour or two. And won't start the next day.

If you have the spider fuel system, use a gage and check fuel pressure, when the problem occurs, key on engine off. 60--66 psi. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a gage, if you don't have one. Maybe the fuel poppets need cleaning, I don't know if injector cleaner in the gas tank will help or not. The best cleaning procedure is a shop procedure, if applicable.
