My rear a/c does not blow cold air. Everything works but the air is not cold. How do I check for air blockage in the rear unit

I have a Chevy Astro van 1999. Typically in the hot summer in FL my high speed fan and ac stops working. This has happened previously. Each time the repair service replaces the ac blower resistor. Since this appears to be happening routinely and the fix is always the same has a design issue been identified by Chevy. Has Chevy corrected this and how and what does it involve to fix the problem. Is this a fix I can do myself if I buy the part. Thanks for your assistance.

You said high blower speed? Do the lower speeds work?

If the problem is the resistor for the front blower, I don't know why you can't replace it yourself?

Air Conditioning problem
1999 Chevy Astro

I recently had my radiator replaced. Afterwards, the A/C continued working fine for a while (a week or two). Then it suddenly stopped working. It had been sitting for a couple of days. The compressor clutch does not appear to be engaging. What are the most likely possible problems? Could a refrigerant leak have recently occurred, even though it was okay with no problems? Maybe a plugged orifice? Or a bad clutch?

Need to start by checking the pressures of the system to be sure it is full of refrigerant. If it is full, test for power at the clutch, if no power but full charge, test for power in and out of the low side cycling switch (located on receiver/dryer)

My 1999 chevy astro van's air conditioning is not working.I tried recharging the system and it blows cool air for a couple hours and the compressor cuts in and out rapidly, then there is no cold air. What do you think it is thanks.

I put in the right amount of refrigerant but I dont have a refrigerant recovery machine. Do you think it might have moisture or debris in the lines. It could have a leak somewhere.

Did you start from a vacuum when you recharged it?

What are the high and low pressure readings at idle and 2,000 RPM on high blower?

On the ref. Gauge it would fluxuate between 25 and 45 psi. But when I initially started it read 5 psi.

Your not going to fix anything with one of those "death kits" from Wally World. You need a vacuum pump and professional gauges.

Do you have an estimate on what that would cost? I dont want to put it in a shop and pay 400-600 dollars on a 100 dollar problem I cant really afford that.I'm a full time student. Thank you for your help.

When you switch it from hot to cold make sure the flap is moving between the heater core and the air core. It is the right side under the dash. You would have to take dash apart :(

On my wifes van the rear a/c works but the front a/c is hot. I know its not a blend door problem because the receiver dryer is hot and does not get cold. I have replace the receiver dryer, oriface tube, and put a used a/c comp. On it.
We have got 3 kids and little money so if you could help with any advise it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I had not checked this in a while. I also thought there had to be something blocking it. The only thing I could think is if a line is internaly busted blocking itself off or if the evaporator itself is blocked. I have replaced the dryer twice (new ones) each time.
Any thoughts?

If the compressor is cycling, then I would say the evaporator could be plugged. If it isn't turning on, then there may not be freon in it. Thus, something has broken or leaked. I really think you are on the right track with this one.
