One windshield wiper will not work

To Whom It May Concern:

About one week ago my driver-side windshield wiper stopped working when turning on my windshield wipers. The passenger side one works fine. I can move the windshield wiper manually so it is not stuck. Is it common for one windshield wiper to stop working? What would cause this to happen?

Thank you,

Sounds like either the pivot ball came undone or the wiper arm is stripped on the mount. The motor drives an arm then the wipers attach to it, if one side pops free you have a problem like yours.

My five year old son is fascinated by windshield wipers. I just discovered that he apparently crawled on the hood and manually forced the passenger side wiper to move. Now that wiper is not working. There is a little "jiggle" but it does not move the blade. Will I need to replace the wiper motor or might there be something else I can check into? Thanks.

The curious minds of the young.

Probably a wiper linkage issue. Between the wiper motor and the pivots where the arms attach there is a "wiper transmission". You need to access this and see what is going on. It may be as simple as just re-connecting the linkage.

My car's check engine light has been on for quite some time and just recently my dome light and open car door light would flicker and then my wipers stopped working in the middle of them working completely normal. And now my driver side door will not shut all the way. It closes but you can still move the door and sometimes moves around while I am driving. What should I do to fix all the problems and what would be an estimate of cost to repair it all?

Retrieve the trouble code and let us know what it is.

Have the charging system tested and check the fuses and ground circuit connections.

Costing have to be done locally.

My right windshield wiper stopped working.
The mechanic tightened the bolt, but that only lasted a few days.
What needs to be replaced?

Try tightening the nut some more. The arm may have not been fully seated in the very fine splines on the shaft. If it shifted after it was tightened, that would instantly make it loose again.
