Knock sensor

How do you remove the knock sensor on the back side of a 2003 impala 3.8l the one closest to the fire wall do I need to drain the antifreeze and what special tool do I use because I can not get a socket to it.

This knock sensor is very difficult to replace. It is on the back/bottom of the engine next to the trans axle.

See the diagrams below for instructions on replacing it

I need to replace the knock sensor on bank 2. But I have no idea how to remove it. The source between the oil pan and transmission is to tight to squeeze a socket through. Any ideas?

The transmission has to come out then drain cooling system. Remove shield around it. I do not see any tips from mechanics. Maybe if you got lucky and used an open end wrench from the side. Be sure not to over tighten if you do it destroys the sensor and you have to replace it again.
