A/C Compressor will not come on?

I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville with the Northstar engine and 95,000 miles on it. The AC compressor quit working so I replaced it with a used one. I also changed the orifice and flushed the system (lots of filings). I recharged it with R134A. The AC works fine on the passenger side with air at approximately 40 degrees. The drivers side vents run about 20 degrees warmer. When I accelerate, the drivers side cools down to match the passenger side, but as soon as I quit accelerating, the drivers side warms up. I am puzzled by this and would like some ideas on how to solve this.

Assuming it has dual climate control. Sounds like you might have a blend door problem on the d/s, bringing the rpm's up simply makes the a/c blow colder overcoming the temp door difference.

This will help reset the system

The DTC's can be cleared in two methods, Scan Tool method or On-Board diagnostic method.

Clearing (DTC)s On-Board Diagnostic Method
1. Press OFF and WARMER (digital IPC) or OFF and PASSENGER WARMER (analog IPC).
2. Press LO (fan speed) button until Air Conditioning Programmer (ACM)? Appears.
3. Press HI (fan speed) ACM CODES? Appears.
4. Press LO (fan speed), ACM CLEAR CODES? Appears.
5. Press HI (fan speed) to clear codes. ACM CODES CLEAR appears.

Please run down this guide and report back.

I recently had a tech check out my AC and he said the compressor isnt coming on, I have equal pressor (70 pounds on both ends) but the compressor isnt coming on. How do I diagnose if its the compressor or sensor? I would really like to save some money, Thanx!

Hello

The only true way to test the compressor circuits and see what the culprit is will be using a scan tool. If you do have a scan tool, follow the diagnostic steps below. But you can reset the compressor without as well, instructions below.

I just bought a 99 cadillac deville, when I pressed the auto button for air cond. A message came up on the message board "Low Refrig-turn A/C off". So I turn it to "Econ". Now when I turn the auto button on it automatically goes to "econ". The manuage said something about it would do that if there is something wrong with the A/C or compressor. Check the compressor and it is full with freon and doesn't seem to be leaking. Any ideas?

It has to be low on freon, pull the codes, off and warmer on heater controls with key in the on posision, AC will not work with codes in the system, so you couldnt get right psi readings

I took the car to the dealership and they said the compressor is out and need a new one. Should I alway believe the Cadillac dealership? I've had A LOT of work done with them on my other cadillac and I never walk out of there without paying $500 to $1000. I love cadillac's but the repairs are so high

Sounds like you need to have the system recharged, it probably has lost some of the r-134 over the years you can get those self recharge things at most parts stores but if you don't know what youre doing, then I would have a shop do it it can be dagerous if you dont know what your doing

If you have enough refrigerent, you may want to check the Low preasure Sensor. If the Sensor is bad it will display that you are low in refrigerent
