If you can get it to cycle while idling, use a test light at the cycling switch (on the receive/drier, low side of the system) The switch should have power through it when a/c is working properly, when it begins to cycle, se if the feed side of the circuit is turning off or if the cycling switch is not making the through connection. This will tell you if it is losing signal frrom the dash end or if the cycling switch is going bad and cant handle the load for an extended length of time
