1995 BMW 318 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 147000 miles
Drove car all day without any problem. However, earlier this week car started over heating. No smoke was seen just gauge was in the red. Check resouvior and it appeared very low; hose was flat; went to put antifreeze and all of a sudden I saw the antifreeze so didn;t put any in. The next morning I checked again and I didnt see any antifreeze so I put water in it. Checked it this morning and the level was fine. Howedver I noted that the driver side floor was soak and wet. I drove all day without incident but went I got home this evening (it is raining here) and turned the car off, the inside lights would not go out. After a minute or so, white smoke started coming from which appeared to be the steering wheel (I put WD-40 on steering wheel to stop sqeak) and then from the back seat that appeared to be coming from the truck because it was only behind the driver side close to the window. It also smelled like something was burning. I checked the trunk but saw not smoke but did smell it. I checked the hood and smelled nothing either. I went outside abount 15 minutes later and tried to start the car but it would not start. The radio came on and the lights in the car came on but I could not click my remote to unlock the door. THINKING MAYBE ITS HEATING COIL. Thanks
