My engine will accelerate and then after about two minutes it backfires through the carburetor cuts off and starts right back and idles fine. I bought a new carburetor, a new distributor, a new fuel pump and I adjusted all the rockers half a turn from point of no play on my roller rockers my engine temp at idle is 140, my timing is at 8 degrees BTC. No problem starting, but it back fires really hard and cuts off

Hey,

Its sounds like you might have the wrong spark plugs installed and they are to cold, can you double check this please?

The only other reason the engine would do this is a lean backfire. The rebuild carburetor will be lean because that's the way the government makes them do it.

Maybe you should get the old one rebuilt or take it part and do it yourself

Let me know what you find

Best, Ken
