240SX Clutch acting weird

I've got a 1991 240sx with a KA24 DOHC and 217,000 miles. I got the car within the last couple months and haven't had any problems until now. Everything was going smoothly until I stopped at a red light and the car wouldn't go into gear. The light was on a steep hill, maybe that did something? The stick wouldn't go out of neutral, then it got stuck. So I turned off the car and tried to put it in gear. It went into gear but it felt strange, almost like the actual shifter was not fitting correctly into the gears. I turned the car on while it was in first and drove it home, still having problems getting it into other gears but managing. I noticed the clutch pedal feeling tighter and having more resistance then before. [Usually people say it goes to the floor and looses resistance.] The weirdest thing is that the shifter now feels almost like it doesn't fit anymore, like it isn't aligned correctly. The last owner had installed a short throw shifter, is it possible that it somehow came loose or something? Thanks a lot for your help!
