Air conditioning is not cooling down and I think it may be the cabin temperature sensor. I don’t know where it is located.

Good afternoon,

Do you have gauges to check the high and low side pressures? I need those reading to see what is going on with the Freon.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-air-conditioner-not-working-or-is-weak

As far as the cabin sensor, I attached the location and procedure for you.

why do you think it is the sensor?

Roy

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the in-vehicle temperature sensor cover. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel - Exploded View in Instrument Cluster / Carrier &/or Interior Moulding / Trim. See: Instrument Cluster / Carrier > Removal and Replacement > Instrument Cluster Finish Panel

2. Disconnect the in-vehicle temperature sensor electrical connector.

3. Rotate the in-vehicle temperature sensor clockwise to detach it from the in-vehicle temperature sensor aspirator hose and remove the sensor.

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

I bought this car yesterday and I cannot get the A/C to blow cold air. I tried to charge it but stopped when the gauge on the can was red before I even hit the trigger. Meaning it might be over charged so I tried to let some out but still no cold air and yes the compressor works. I watch it spin and wonder how. Been watching a lot of videos and reading, but no answers. The car runs great. Like to fix this and be at peace. Lol.

Hello,

It sounds like the system is overcharged, but I must ask did you check the pressures with the system running? If so then you may have a clogged expansion valve.

Here are some guides to get us going in the right direction:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-air-conditioner-not-working-or-is-weak

and

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

When driving slow in town my air conditioner stops blowing cold air. I changed the cabin filter, added air conditioner coolant, and it still does it. If I leave it off for about fifteen minutes it works again. I do not seem to have the problem when driving highway speeds. What could cause this?

This sounds like it could be one of three problems. First can you confirm the radiator cooling fan are running when the air conditioner is on?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-electric-fan-motor

Next, the system can be low on charge causing the compressor to turn faster to provide enough refrigerant to have the system work.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/air-conditioner-how-to-add-freon

Next, is the compressor seals are going bad causing the compressor to only work at higher speeds.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/re-charge-an-air-conditioner-system

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-air-conditioner-compressor

Please let us know what you find.

My A/C blows hot air, vents do not work right. Defrost blows out top (at windshield) and bottom (near feet). Heat blows out chest level but not at feet when dial is set to chest level and foot position. Any and all help greatly appreciated.

This could be a couple of different issues. First it could be that your blend air door actuator and mode door actuators are not operating or you have a low charge in the A/C system.

Let's start with checking the A/C pressures to try and narrow this down. Clearly there are very different issues so we need to try and eliminate some of them so that we can get on the right path.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-air-conditioner-not-working-or-is-weak

We need to get an A/C gauge set and hook it up to the high and low side ports then turn on the engine and A/C.

When AC is turned on warm air comes out of the vents. Low side pressure is reading high approximately 90 psi. I have not recharged the the refrigerant in the time I have owned the vehicle (six years) and I have had no issues until now.

Good afternoon,

Does the compressor come on when you turn on the AC?

What is the high side reading?

Recently my airconditioning system started pumping out very hot air. When I set the climate control (closed loop control system) it gets hotter as I set it lower. It is not an issue of the airconditioning not funtioning, it is actually sending heated air when it should be calling for air conditioning.

This sounds like the compressor has gone out or the system is low on charge or a fuse is bad, these videos and guides can help us fix the problem with diagrams below to show you how on your car. I have included (below) the air conditioner wiring diagrams as well so you can see how the system works.

I replaced air compressor and air condenser hose in front of vehicle. Now air conditioner keeps leaking out and when I turn air on and accelerate I get a high pitched whining. I have also replaced alternator brushes and serpentine belt because the battery light kept coming on. The battery light stopped coming on. The rpm's are higher than 1,500 when driving. ( I do not know if that is normal). Whenever I turn defrost or air on I get that whining like something is trying to engage over and over. Cold air does come out for up to three days at a time. Heater in my car works very little and now whining when air or defrost selector inside car is turned on. I am a single sixty four year old female. Please help.

Good evening.

The squeeling sounds like it is from a loose belt for the AC. Have it checked to be sure it is tight.

As far as the leak, you need to have the system re checked for any leak with a leak detector. Three days is a good size leak.

Hi Carlos,

We need to start with hooking up a gauge set and seeing what the high and low side pressures are. This will tell us what the system is doing and then we can make some decisions on how to fix it.

If you don't have a gauge set then most parts stores rent them.

Also, when you installed the components did you perform an evacuate and recharge. Meaning did you pull it into a vacuum? If not, then you have moisture in the system which will prevent it from cooling efficiently and will actually rust the compressor in a short amount of time. Thanks
