Roll up all windows and exit the vehicle with key in hand, lock all doors using the fob, wait 15 minutes, then unlock the door using the key, this should reset the system.

If that does work do a hard reboot by removing the negative battery cable and holding it onto the positive terminal for 1 minute discharging the capacitors of the system then reconnect it and lock and unlock the door using the remove or drivers door key.

this guide can help as well.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Working on a friends 97 Acura Integra that wont start. I jumped the car the other day and it eventually started. Car ran fine once it was on.I thought it may have something to do with that radio code because the alarm just keeps going off everytime I try to crank it, but I entered it and it seems to just turn on the radio and has nothing to do with anti theft. I changed the completely dead battery and and car still wont start(power and headlights come on but wont even choke, alarm just goes off blinking headlights and horn). Something is draining it overnight.(When I crank dash display shows both doors open). I think that it had a combination dead battery and that a bad starter was wearing it down or a door switch is draining it. Is this possible?

The alarm going off while cranking indicates the security system has not been disabled. Check for blown fuses.

Close all doors and use the key to lock/unlock the door to disarm tne security system and retest.

Thanks KHLow 2008.

I ended up pulling all fuses out and checking them and none were blown, but when I put them all back in the alarm brain reset. The car is working fine now.

Hi john,

When alarm self triggers, it usually is caused by a triggering point malfunctioning.

Check all doors, trunk and hood switches. Any misaligned doors would cause the the problem when tremors/vibrations etc wuld trigger the switch.

The battery on my remote died, so I tried to open door with key only to have the alarm go off. Tried to turn car on it wont. Took out the fuse thats inside the car and the one under the hood and it still wont turn on. Is it just the battery that I need or is it something else. If possible how do I deactivate or reset the alarm.

Hello. The factory alarm on my car has started going of at random quite frequently. I know I can shut it off my unlocking my door. But how can I permanently solve the problem? Sometimes it will be going off all night and I will not hear it - which causes some tension between me and the other residents living in my apartment complex, not to mention my landlord who has threatened to tow my car. (Yikes!)

Can I replace the fuse connected with the alarm system? Will that fix the problem? If not, what should I do? According to my owner's manual, the alarm system and door locks are located on the same fuse so disabling it altogether is not an option.

What would you suggest?

There have been problems with some models of the the keyless remotes that makes the panic button very sensitive.
Try removing the keyless remote's battery to confirm if you have that problem.
Other than that, you might have an aftermarket alarm and if that's the case the only thing I could suggest is removing the horn's fuse every night. That will stop the noise but your lights will still flash when the alarm trips.

1996 Acura CL 130000 miles

Hello,

My car's (2.2 Acura CL 1996) alarm goes off every 15 min or so when it is parked and locked.

My Remote transmitter does not work anymore - I lock the car with the key. (Just FYI: The alarm goes of while the steering wheel is locked or unlocked.)

Do you have an idea what that could be and what could be done?

Thanks for any advince.

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Do you have any problem with the door ajar indicator flashing while driving?

Is the front hood flush and firm when fully closed and locked?

Alarm self triggering are usually due to one or more of the door switches not in full contact. Check for doors out of alignment and door switch that have lost their rubber covers.
