My A/C blowing hot air?

I went to turn my A/C on the other day and it only blew hot hot heater air. My compressor is working, all my A/C lines are super cold and sweating, my blower to my A/C is working. It’s like it’s stuck on heater mode? I’ve seen videos of people going in and just turning the door from heater to A/C until they get to a mechanic. I’d like to do that. I live in Loxley, AL. And it’s already 103 degrees here and I’m a single mom with kids and need my A/C. I’m very handy and can do this myself until I can get to a mechanic to fix the actual door motor. My question is which door? Aren’t there like three or four different doors. Mix door, heater door, A/C door, mode door? Which one is the one I need to find first because I don’t have a clue where it is? Which one is the one I need to turn the door on?

Good evening,

The mode door motor is under the dash. I attached a picture and a procedure for you to access.

MODE DOOR MOTOR : Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

1. Remove the instrument lower panel LH. Refer to "Removal and Installation" See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel > Removal and Replacement > Removal and Installation.
2. Disconnect the harness connector from the mode door motor.
3. Remove the mode door motor screws and the mode door motor.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

I submitted a question earlier and got an answer. Thank you. I just wanted to add to my question and wasn’t sure how to do so. My question is.
The mode door is the door I need to move the lever on? Right?
This is exactly what’s occurring. I forgot to include this. I’m not sure if it will make a difference or not but better safe than sorry. When I turn my AC on it blows hot hot heater air. Not room temperature air “hot” heater air. So I turned AC & Heater both completely off and it’s still blowing hot hot heater air out of the vents even when everything is turned off. So obviously it’s stuck on heater mode? Correct? Wouldn’t you say that was the problem? This is what’s making it so unbearable to drive. Because even with the windows down I can’t even enjoy the breeze due to the constant hot heater air blowing out of my vents at me even though everything is turned off. I never knew there where so many doors. Is it called the blend door or mode door? I just want to make sure I’ve got the correct door and can for the time being go in and manually move the lever(arm) that controls the AC/Heater door from off heater to on AC? Just until I can afford to replacement the motor for it and install it. I’ve seen other people on YouTube just manually move the lever for the time beginning and just wanted to make sure that’s something I will be able to do as well? I’m sorry please bare with me. I’m learning and just want to avoid any mistakes if possibly. I’ve been researching this for 2 months now. I’m 98% sure this is my problem. I just didn’t have a clue which one of the many doors I needed to move the lever on and where that door was located under my dash? Thank you for helping me and being so patient with my questions. I love the fact I can ask mechanic questions regarding my vehicle and get correct quality advice and answers so quickly. I truly appreciate it.

Yes, it is called a blend door actuator.

Once you remove it, you can turn it manually.

Okay! So the one in the diagram is the correct door I need to find and manually move the lever? Because I know there are multiple doors.

No, you get it from under the dash, not through the glove box.

Recently the a/c on my Altima started blowing warmer and warmer. Having worked on vehicles over the years, I did the typical checks. A/C clutch was not engaging, freon was charged. So, I replaced my compressor as well as my expansion valve. After doing this, I vacuumed the system then put freon in. The clutch is engaging on the new compressor. But I still get only hot air. I checked the fuses, couldn't find a problem there. The only thing I haven't checked is my a/c relay and Nissan is very vague on their diagrams of where the relay may be. I'm frustrated with this and open to suggestions.

If the AC clutch is engaging I would say the relay is working. What are the high side and low side AC pressures with the AC on?Also have you checked your blend door?

Compressor control valve. My 2013 Altima has been blowing hot while still. Would start to drive then it would cool down. This went on for about a year. Now it was just blowing hot all the time. I changed the control valve and now it works like new. It's easy to get to - from under the car on the right side. It's held in by a snap ring. Just be sure to have a/c system drained before you remove it! I bought the part on eBay for about $40.00 because no one around here stocks it. Hope that helps someone!

I have a problem on my Nissan Altima 2014, whenever I turn on the car the AC is on full blast. I can change the temp and it works on all locations. But it just won’t move to lower blast, I’ve tried turning off the battery to see if it would reset it but it didn’t do anything.

You blower fan is control with what is called pulse width modulated. That means the control module sends a varying level of voltage depending on the speed you want the fan to spin.

So if you are only getting high speed then I suspect the A/C amplifier is your issue assuming you have auto temperature control. If you have manual temperature control, it is not much different but the controller is called the front air control module. However, it is still PWM.

This is what controls the speed once the Body control module grounds the relay to turn the fan on the amp actually controls the speed.

I have recharged it but it stills blows hot air. I do not what to do. I'm a PFC in the army so I don't really get paid well enough to have a mechanic fix it.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Happy to help anyone in the Army. Now, when you turn the A/C on, does the A/C compressor engage and cycle on and off? I ask because the system may be working perfectly but there may be an issue with what is called a blend air door. The blend air door is responsible for the air temp entering the vehicle.

Let me know about the compressor. Also, by any chance do you know what both the high and low side pressures were when you charged it? If you do, let me know as well as approximately what the outside temperature was when you did it. Also, take a look through this link to see if anything helps.
